Jury Award in Pennsylvania Civil Rights Case

Jury Award in Pennsylvania Civil Rights Case

Last week, a Pittsburgh jury awarded a Pennsylvania teen $119,000 for violations of his civil rights. See http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/04/01/deliberations-resume-in-civil-rights-trial-3-white-officers-in-black-art/?intcmp=obinsite (A.P. April 1, 2014). Jordan Miles asserted that three white officers confronted him while he was walking to his grandmother's home. Officers asserted that they used force against him because they mistakenly believed he had a gun. While criminal charges were filed, those charges were eventually dismissed by a magistrate who apparently did not believe the officers' version of events.
