As of July 1, 2017, individuals younger than 18 will be required to wear helmets when riding an ATV. The sanction is civil in nature, not criminal. An individual could be fined up to $500 for not wearing a helmet. Specifically, the offense is a class C infraction. I.C. 9-18.1-14-11.
