Because a DUI typically involves a vehicle, a lot of people think it is a traffic violation, but it’s actually a crime. The allegation is that you are committing a crime, not just a traffic violation.
There are different levels of crimes from the DUI, they can be a misdemeanor, it can be a felony. It can be a major felony in certain circumstances, depending on what action occurred. For example, if there is, unfortunately, somebody that died during the course of an accident where somebody is alleged to have driven while intoxicated, it can vary all the way from a major felony, depending on the circumstances of each particular case.
A DUI case can include a traffic violation, but it’s much more than that and it’s more serious than just a traffic violation. Each DUI case has its own nuances, and you have to attack in a certain way.
