Keffer & Roman-Lagunas Named to 2020 In Indiana Rising Stars List

The Rising Stars list only recognizes 2.5 percent of all lawyers in each state. In order to qualify for this honor, a candidate needs to be either 40 years of age or younger, or have been practicing law in their state for 10 years or fewer.

Super Lawyers rates highly-recognized and successful attorneys from over 70 practice areas. The organization’s selection process received a patent from The United States Patent and Trademark Office in April 2013, which provides further credibility as an impartial third-party rating service.

The selection process consists of the following steps:

• Nominations – Each year, Super Lawyers invite attorneys from each state to nominate outstanding lawyers they’ve personally seen handling cases. The organization’s lawyer-led researchers also make their nominations based on attorneys who have obtained certain results, credentials, honors, and are considerably recognized amongst their peers. Lastly, clients, readers, and marketing directors have a chance to nominate candidates.
• Independent research – The research department at Super Lawyers assesses each candidate based on the following indicators based on professional accomplishments and peer acknowledgement: experience, verdicts/settlements, awards/honors, certifications, special licenses, representative clients, transactions, position within firm, bar and other professional service, education/employment background, lectures/publications, community service/pro bono work, and other significant accomplishments.
• Peer evaluation – Known as the “blue ribbon review,” this part of the selection process consists of peer review by practice area. The blue ribbon panel is composed of candidates with the highest point totals from the previous two steps and are in charge of providing a list of candidates to review.
• Final selection – Candidates are grouped based on the size of their firm and judged accordingly.
