What is Considered a Misdemeanor?

A misdemeanor is a criminal conviction that has penalties up to a year. The law strikes a huge difference between a felony and a misdemeanor. When you go to apply for a job they ask if you have a felony, are you a felon.

There are more stigmas attached to a felony, conviction and a labeling that society looks differently at a person who has a felony than they do if the person has a misdemeanor.

Even though a misdemeanor has less stigma associated with it than a felony, it’s still important to address it quickly and seriously because it does have implications. It can have implications for your employment, it can have implications on licensing issues. Even though it is different than a felony you still need to address it seriously, you still need to address it quickly.

At Keffer Hirschauer, we are trained to do that in a fashion that puts you in the best position possible.
