What is Expungement?
An expungement seals a criminal record from public view, so most employers, landlords, and background checks can no longer see it. In Indiana you can petition to expunge most misdemeanors 5 years after the conviction date and most Level 6 felonies after 8 years, as long as you have no pending charges and have paid all fines and fees.
Expungement lets people seal those records and move forward as the person they are today. Expungement was meant to be a simple process — something every citizen could access. But as with all things in government, serious complexities have crept in, and you need someone skilled who understands the law. We have helped hundreds of Hoosiers seal their records so that they can be seen as the person they are, not the person they were.
